  19. QUESTION:  My job requires me to drive a great deal at night.  But there are
  20. times when the glare of headlights from inconsiderate drivers bounces off my
  21. glasses and prevents me from seeing clearly.  Another driver wears special
  22. lenses that help him overcome the problem.  He called them "glare resistant"
  23. but I can't find them in any store.  Can you help me with this problem?  I am

  28. ANSWER:  Try looking for lenses called "AntiReflective" (AR).  These are
  29. plastic lenses that come with a special coating that can reduce the amount of
  30. glare from the high beams of an oncoming car.  These lenses work best for
  31. people who must wear strong prescription glasses, and may add as much as $50
  32. to the cost of your next prescription.  Since they are made of plastic, they
  33. scratch easily and require careful handling.  Since they smudge easily, they
  34. must be cleaned frequently.  There are several methods of applying the coating
  35. to the lenses, and a vacuum process works best, with the longest lasting
  36. results, though the coating wears off after time.
